New to Church?
Welcome!
Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life - we hope the website helps you find out what you want to know about East Oldham Methodist Church.
When & where does our church meet?
We meet every Sunday at 10.45am for our Sunday Morning Service. There will be a few people around from about 10am so you're welcome to come early, meet some of our team and have a drink
Our Church building is the yellow brick building on Ripponden Road, in between Vulcan Street and Collett Street. Our postcode is OL1 4HP
There is parking available at the side of our Church building and we have access by a ramp to our main entrance.
Is there a dress code?
No, just wear something that you are comfortable with!
Our people come in a variety of clothes from shirt and tie to jeans and t-shirts. Even our minister will wear casual clothes.
What to expect when I visit the church
You can expect a warm welcome, great worship, and a friendly bunch of people gathering to learn more about God. We are very informal. We are a group of people of all ages and different cultural backgrounds. Do join us for a drink and snacks after the service to get to know some people from the church.
We have no set or reserved seats. You are welcome to sit wherever, and with whoever, you like.
We sing a mix of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns. The words are projected on to a large screen.
You can join in, or simply sit and listen, as you prefer.
Tea and coffee is served in the Church hall at the end of the worship service.
What happens for the Children and Young People at church?
Children and young people are really welcome. We have an experienced Children & Young Peoples Worker. They normally stay with the adults for the fist 20 - 30 minutes of our Morning Services, then go to their own age related groups with a children's leader and a helper. All our leaders have been cleared for criminal records checks for safeguarding of young and vulnerable people.
If your children wish stay in the main Service with you, that is fine. You are also welcome to go to their class with them, to see what are doing and to help them settle in. And stay with them as long as you wish.
For the younger children under 2 years, as is necessary, we intend to have a creche room where they can play with their guardians and a church leader. We hope to relay the Service content to a speaker, so that you will not miss out the worship and preaching.
We have 10 - 20 children and young people joining us each week. We encourage them to go out into classes with leaders to learn more about God.
We believe that children of all ages can fully encounter God and the Holy Spirit and be equiped with His gifts. We encourage them to pursue an intimate relationship with God.
